PHP Developer / Programmer
Immediate opening for a full or part-time highly-skilled, self-sufficient PHP Developer.Job Summary:
This position offers an excellent opportunity for a self-starter with a strong work ethic to collaborate closely with a talented graphic design team to build web sites, web applications, and e-commerce solutions. The proper candidate must be able to integrate function with design and possess the ability to work on many tasks & projects at one time and still hit firm deadlines. The candidate will also be comfortable training clients and/or co-workers on using web application solutions and provide on-going guidance. The candidate will be responsible for modifying current web applications & databases, updating content, and will strive to learn new technologies, tackle new challenges, and grow professionally. Additional duties will include basic UNIX web server configuration, maintenance, software research, and testing, etc.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or combination of experience and education will be considered.
4+ years of paid web development experience preferred.
Additional Internet training, education or background helpful.
Required Skills:
PHP, XHTML, CSS, jQuery, MySQL, Apache, FreeBSD or comparable OS
Desired Skills:
FuseBox, Drupal, Wordpress, MVC, XML, Web Services, Javascript, Web Server Administration, cPanel
Non-Tech Skills:
Strong verbal, written, communication, and organizational skills, multitasking, attention to detail, adherence to deadlines.
Compensation:
$45k - $60k based on qualifications for an in-office employee. Will also consider remote employees.

Web Designer / Developer
Outer Banks Internet, Inc. (OBI) has an opening for a talented and experienced Web Designer / Developer. OBI is a full service website solutions provider located on the famous Outer Banks of North Carolina. Websites, sun, sand, and surf. Will consider sub contractors.
Job Summary:
The Web Designer will be responsible for producing custom website and application designs as well as updating and maintaining graphic standards for OBI's current client websites. The successful candidate will develop websites that meet best practices in web design, usability, accessibility and search engine optimization. It is important that the Web Designer be able to take a project from initial design through final implementation and work closely with the project team and clients to deliver high quality, professional websites.
Required Skills/Knowledge :
- Strong command of HTML, XHTML, CSS and Javascript (jQuery), Flash
- Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS)
- Understanding of cross-browser and cross platform compatibility issues and web standards
- Design background and high level of proficiency working with Illustrator & Photoshop and a firm handle of image optimization
- Extremely proficient in the latest versions of industry standard web design tools
- A strong understanding of designing site functionality, interaction, site architecture, user interfaces, and intuitive navigation schemes.
- Experience with e-commerce solutions
- Self-motivated, positive personality with excellent interpersonal skills
- Confident with written & oral communication skills with regard to customer management
- Enthusiastic and energetic work ethic
- Ability to prioritize and work in a multi-client environment
- Strong attention to quality & detail
- Deadline oriented
Web Designer Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Meet with sales and project management team to discuss and brainstorm ideas for new client websites, review and give creative and caring input on proposals, and possess the ability to closely estimate and adhere to hours for projects.
- Update existing client websites as well as OBI's internal web applications and website projects.
- Search Engine Submission & website optimization
- Troubleshoot and test sites for usability and browser compatibility.
- Interact well with clients and work in a team environment.
- Actively use and update OBI's project management software including: input project notes, religiously use timetracking module, closely follow and update production schedule.
- Contribute to the overall strategic direction and vision of projects, and make positive contributions toward OBI's business goals.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with PHP, MySQL, and object-oriented programming desirable.
- Project management experience
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or equivalent experience
- 2-4 years professional web design experience.
